VTC-70 is a tube compressor plugin that models the character of classic 1970s tube compression. It combines a gain stage, tube drive with two modes, tone shaping (brilliance and warmth filters), and a feedback-style compressor with sensitivity (threshold), squeeze (ratio), response (attack), and recovery (release). So you get level control and glue plus harmonic colour from the tube stage. A mix control allows parallel compression.

Gain stage. Input Gain sets how hard the signal hits the tube and compressor; higher settings increase both compression and saturation. Output Gain sets the level after processing so you can match bypass or boost the result.

Tube drive. Drive controls the amount of tube saturation. Mode I (Gentle/Warm) uses smoother saturation with a higher threshold, suited to vocals and acoustic material. Mode II (Harsh/Aggressive) uses sharper saturation with more harmonics and asymmetric clipping, suited to drums, bass, and aggressive material. Dynamic tube bias and transformer saturation are modelled so the character responds to level and adds even harmonics.

Tone shaping. Brilliance is a high-frequency (low-pass) control: lower values warm the top end; higher values keep it bright. Warmth is a low-frequency (high-pass) control: higher values tighten the low end; lower values preserve bass. Use them to fit the compressor into the mix or to add vintage tilt.

Compressor. Sensitivity sets the threshold (when compression starts). Squeeze sets the ratio (how much gain reduction above threshold). Response sets the attack time (fast for transients, slow to preserve punch). Recovery sets the release time (how long the compressor takes to let go). So you can go from subtle levelling to heavy squash.

Mix blends dry and processed signal for parallel compression.

Ideal for mix engineers and producers who want vintage-style tube compression with flexible tone and parallel options.
